The Resurrection Project: Site 57

Book:

1

She was ambitious, motivated. She had goals and was determined to attain them. Lieutenant Cosette Newland was a rising star, then the meteor came and all her dreams and plans vaporized.

Twenty-five years after the event, Cosette found herself in the control room of Cave Site 57 taking her yearly turn making sure the system was operating correctly. She had One hundred, military personnel, one hundred scientific and engineering personnel, and two thousand civilians relying on her to keep them safe. She had received outside communication from her previous commanding officer now at the Mammoth Cave site that the weather was beginning to warm up and she should revive her commanding officer from stasis. Then someone attacked and everything changed.

Whoever the invaders were, they were human and possessed grenades. After blowing their way inside Cosette was on her own to defend the base. Though frightened she was also exhilarated by the idea of action and the hunt. When it was over, she wanted more and thought she knew where to find it.

After reviving her CO and other military personnel, she convinced her CO to allow her to venture outside to explore. However, once out of the cave, she discovered they were not alone on the planet. They were attacked by aliens. Now, with an alien force and spaceship at their front door and her CO seriously wounded the leadership fell to her. But even with all her ambition and desire to lead, she wasn’t prepared for a situation like this. Cosette had limited time to decide a course of action or more than two thousand lives would be lost.
